Officials in Sacramento County are investigating a gun violence incident that erupted Saturday night April 18 at Howe Park while authorities were shutting down a large unsanctioned party of an estimated several hundred individuals.
What Led to the Shooting
Sacramento County law enforcement initially responded to the Arden-Arcade park at approximately half past six in the evening after being notified of individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons. Soon after, additional information came in mentioning an alleged brawl taking place at Howe Park.
An overhead unit scanned the area from the air but came back with no confirmation of a fight. However, it was apparent that a massive group had congregated at Howe Park without any permit or approval.
When the Shots Rang Out
Officers worked to disperse the crowd by forming Sacramento park shooting 2026 a perimeter and broadcasting over loudspeakers ordering those gathered to leave immediately. Approximately 15 minutes were allowed for people to comply.

The Shooting Victims
When the dust settled, four victims were located with gunshot injuries. The victims — a group of one female and three male victims all believed to be in their mid to late twenties — were rushed to nearby hospitals. Doctors and nurses stated that two victims sustained immediate injuries, one victim's injuries were classified as moderate, and one victim's wounds were minor. Thankfully, all four victims survived and were stable.
Sacramento fire crews assisted at the location and helped care for the four victims at the scene.
Evidence at the Scene
The bulk of the shooting was determined to have unfolded along the Cottage Way side of the park close to the local Home Depot situated at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. Detectives found further ballistic evidence in the form of shell casings scattered along Cottage Way. Projectile impacts were discovered in the iron perimeter fence surrounding the Home Depot. This evidence confirmed that a shooter had been sending rounds south from the Cottage Way area aimed at the Home Depot building and parking lot. The store itself was secured under a brief lockdown while the scene was active. Forensic investigators and law enforcement detectives continued working throughout the night.
Arrests Made
Information relayed via scanner audio established that a vehicle identified as a Kia had been stopped in an area within Solano County. Four people were held for questioning. Law enforcement units were heading to pick up the four detainees to return them to Sacramento for formal questioning. Video that was reviewed established that the shooting involved two separate gunmen.
